Updates!

It has been a while since I last posted an update, but I have a LOT of work coming up in March 2022, so I figured it was time to alert the world!

March 9th - 20th, 2022

My Beloved, My Axiom is being produced by the New Ambassadors Theatre Company as part of their HEARTBroke 2022 festival (Program B). This is both a world premiere and NYC premiere for this short play! The cast features Maile Binion as Jean, John Pena Griswold as Kevin, and Matthew Menendez as Karl. It is directed by Sydney Burtner. This goofy comedy is a little different from my usual fare, but I’m excited to have put it out there! You can purchase tickets here.

March 11th - 13th, 2022

A Voice From the Prussian Sea will have its second production - and first international production - with Creo Theatre in London, England! It will be part of their short play festival. The piece is being performed at the Hens and Chickens Theatre. The cast features Ginny Adams as Zelde, Ellen Gray as Lara, and Ronan Radin as Marcus. Ronan is also directing the piece.

March 19th & 20th, 2022

Although this play’s ORIGINAL world premiere production has been rescheduled for August, An Invocation to His Muse will instead premiere as part of the Halfway Historical festival, produced by Rainy Day Artistic Collective. This production will be virtual. It will feature Brigid Pfeifer and Katherine Louise Black. It will be directed by Adriana Guiman.

March 20th, 2022

You Enter the Tavern, a full-length stage adaptation of my monologue play Adventurers Anonymous, will receive a reading with The Bechdel Group as part of their Sunday Shortlist program. This play is totally distinct from the original - it’s 98% brand new writing. Although I did submit a complete draft, this play is still a work in progress! I have already made a LOT of revisions since I was tasked with choosing a selection for the reading! I think it needs a new final scene, but it’s getting there! I am really eager to complete some full-length work, so I’m hoping that this is a step that gets me there! You can register for the reading here.

March 24th - 27th, 2022

Middle Tennessee State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will be producing Narcissa, Narcissa as part of their 6 x 10 Festival. Once again, this piece has inspired radical interpretation, which is my absolute favorite thing! The play is being conceptualized as a movement piece, with the roles being performed by dancers. The piece is being directed by Sean McDevitt, with choreography assistance from Aaron Allen. Narcissa will be voiced by Jen Cunic and Reflection will be voiced by Mary-Beth Mangrum. I’m looking forward to seeing what these artists do with the piece, and also eager for the next two productions that have been programmed for later this year!

March 26th, 2022

My Zoom play Fish Tank is getting a second production as part of Strange Realms: Tales of Mystery and Horror, produced by Nighthawks and Theatre Anywhere. I am still awaiting further details, but I know many of the playwrights involved in the program and I know I will be in excellent company! This company pays all artists, so if you are so inclined, you can donate to their fundraiser.

On the writing front, I’ve been working on a few shorter pieces while I dream up my next full-length idea! I’ve also been revising some of my ‘kitchen sink sci-fi’ plays - they’re a little niche, but I am partial to them! I am hoping that this little burst of opportunities will provide a bump of inspiration as we enter Spring!

My February reading challenge is the 2-22 challenge! I am reading and recommending twenty-two two-handers on NPX by the end of the month! I am having a blast - I love these concise, character-driven little plays! I am itching to write a new one myself!
