Thar She Blows!
Summer has been an incredibly prolific season so far! I managed to finish the first draft of a new two-hander for younger (late high school/early college aged) performers! I LOVE a good two hander, and I fell head over heels for these awkward, silly, earnest characters. I’m not sure how to go about developing such a piece, but I will be on the lookout for opportunities! It has some fun scenes that I think might work nicely in a classroom setting, too.
Speaking of development…
I am still coming down from a phenomenal experience workshopping blowhole with Eastline Theatre! We spent the entire month of June rehearsing the piece, playing with props, and making revisions. The experience culminated in a full weekend of staged performances! I cannot believe how well everything came together!
The piece was directed by Anjor Khadilkar and facilitated by Abi Alam.
It featured the following cast:
Andrea Woodbridge as Elizabeth
Caitlin Cassidy as Caroline
Melanie Lipton as Lilly
Sydney Kalish as Marina
Sheila Sheffield as Flossie
Lee Kurfist as Eugene
Eric Clavell as Sidney
Spencer McLaughlin as Otto
Peter Goike as Bill
Luckily, the fun isn’t over! The second workshop in this series will take place during the third weekend in November. We’ll be developing my 1920s supernatural drama The Care and Feeding of Restless Spirits. That one’s a true passion project for me, so I’m super excited to see it on its feet! It’s an exploration of the relationship between love and belief.
