Publication News (and Upcoming Productions)

Hello friends! I am pleased to announce that I will have work appearing in two of this year’s Smith & Kraus anthologies: Jac’s monologue from Occupied will appear in 2023 Best Women’s Monologues, and Hot Blood Sundae will appear in 2023 Best Ten-Minute Plays. I’m told the “short lists” for these books are quite immense, so I’m very pleased to have made the cut twice!

I will also have work in another anthology, coming out this Spring, but I haven’t officially received permission to share the news, so you’ll have to wait and see!

Meanwhile, I have three short productions coming up later this month:

Any Port in a Storm will receive its world premiere as part of Patchwork Playfest with the Eclectic Full Contact Theatre in Chicago. I’m very pleased to have work featured alongside two playwright friends: Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend and Dana Hall! It’s going to be a great lineup - plus, the festival is streaming, so I get to enjoy it from home!

Almost immediately after that production closes, New Ambassadors will be producing a festival cut of the same play as part of HEARTbroke 2023! This is my second year participating in HEARTbroke, and I’m pleased to continue my relationship with this dynamic and subversive company! Best of all, I’m planning to catch the performance in-person on the eve of my birthday! Talk about a party!

Then, right in between the two productions, White Mouse Productions in Tallahassee, Florida will be presenting Iphis and Ianthe at the Courthouse as part of their Queer Theatre Festival. I LOVE that their Valentine’s Day festival is a queer festival. What a wonderful way to ensure queer joy makes it to the stage! I can’t wait to see what they’ll do with the piece!

Tonight I’ll begin developing a brand new short speculative piece for production. My inclusion in this festival is a blast from the pandemic-times past, so I’m very grateful that this year’s collaboration will result in an in-person production! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to announce anything yet (I believe it becomes public in a week or so), but I am SO excited to get a second shot to work with an incredible, innovative company on femme-centric new work in conversation with the classics!

In terms of full-length work, I am pleased to announce that I have once again received funding from the Huntington Arts Council and NYSCA to support the writing of TWO new plays. Both pieces feature leading roles for women, and they are in conversation with women’s history! I’m exploring everything from suffrage to ocean conservation to the spiritualism movement. EastLine theatre will be hosting public salon readings of both pieces in June and November respectively thanks to support from our friends at Westbury Arts. I am bringing pages to my workshop weekly, and it’s very exciting!

As I’ve said, I’m taking a break from submitting to try and enjoy writing again, but know that things are still happening behind the scenes! I can’t wait to collaborate with you soon!
