A Voice From the Prussian Sea

I am very excited to be traveling to KNOW Theatre in Binghamton, New York to see my one-act play, A Voice From the Prussian Sea produced as part of the 18th annual Playwrights and Artists Festival! Each year, three visual artworks are chosen to serve as points of inspiration for playwrights. A committee chooses two plays for each artwork. Then, two composers read the plays and create original music to accompany each. All of the elements come together, resulting in a full weekend of original theatre featuring the work of local actors and directors. Each one is a never-before-seen collaboration between many artists! I feel very lucky to be involved!

The Poster for the event

A Voice From the Prussian Sea was inspired by Mary Rose’s painting Stairway to Heaven. The play is a feminist retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, set during the Shoah. It will be presented on the last two Fridays in November - Friday, November 19th, and Friday, November 26th. All performances are at 8 PM. I am not yet sure who the actors, directors, or composer are, as the final combination is meant to be a surprise!

This will be my first time traveling since before the pandemic, and the first fully staged and produced production in a very long time! I am excited to meet everyone involved in making my play a reality!
